New resource for Job Seekers

I put together http://JobMarket.MyBenilan.com a while ago to help distribute job postings and resumes efficiently between candidates and recruiters / hiring managers.

Step 2 is a cheat sheet of career resources for job seekers in the Toronto IT market: http://JobMarketResources.MyBenilan.com

I hope someone finds it useful :)

Feedback is most welcome.

Cheers,
Michael.

2 Weeks / 2 Funerals, some perspective

Two weeks ago I attended the funeral of a 90 year old Woman who was a very close friend of my Grand Mother. I fondly remember playing Rummy (cards) in the park with her as a child. One point conveyed in the eulogies was on the secret to living a long life. The key, it is said, is to never malign another. Always say good things about your fellow. Even more so - always think good things, benefit of the doubt etc... There is a strong sense of loss and grief at every funeral - but this one was very inspirational.

Today's will be another matter altogether.

The Father of a classmate of one of my Daughters was hit by a car. What a tragedy. I pray that his Wife and young kids will find a way to eventually reach some peace with this loss. The lesson here for me is the need to appreciate every day. Live each day as if it could be your last, especially in terms of how you treat others. Make sure everyone in your life knows how much you love them and care for them.

Just as a flame can be transferred from one candle to another without diminishing the energy of the first, so too can the gift of love be given without measure and without fear of depletion.

Folding@Home

Update 2007-03-15:

...Soon available for your PS3. I'm still back on the Nintendo Game Cube so no folding for me on a gaming console in the near future. We have lots of fun with Super Monkey Ball 2 though :)

This reminds me that I need to reset myself up since I've not been contributing over the last few months.

My current stats: here

Looking for a Job? Looking to Hire?

I get a ton of requests from job seekers and recruiters for introductions. To help manage this task I started a site at http://jobmarket.mybenilan.com. Currently the traffic is mostly Software Development related positions in the Toronto area, although I expect that to change over time.

Please feel free to distribute this link to people you know that might be interested. There is a range of hiring activity that purposefully avoids the big job boards which I hope can be assisted through this mechanism.

Welcome to my new site

Check out the "About this site" panel at the bottom for a bit of history and future plans. I've neglected editorial blogging for a long time now as I realized most of my posts were really social bookmarking exercises.

MikeBD.com will now host technical related content while BenDavidFamily.com will continue to be used for family photos, video and news. Each will have its own blog for everyone's sanity :)
